The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon

The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, also known as the frequency illusion, is a cognitive bias in which after noticing something for the first time, there is a tendency to notice it more often, leading someone to believe that it has an increased frequency of occurrence. It is named after the West German far-left militant group, the Baader-Meinhof Group, but the phenomenon itself is related to the workings of human perception and memory. Essentially, once something has been brought to our attention, our brain is primed to recognize it more readily, creating the illusion that it is appearing with greater frequency than before.
