Ukemi

Ukemi is a martial arts term referring to the art of falling safely. Here's a brief overview of how to implement it:

  1. Relax: Stay loose and flexible to absorb the impact of the fall.

  2. Roll: As you fall, tuck your chin to your chest and roll diagonally across your back, distributing the force of the impact.

  3. Use Arms: Extend one arm out in the direction of your roll to help guide and cushion your fall.

  4. Practice: Start with simple falls from a kneeling position and gradually progress to more complex falls from standing positions under the guidance of a qualified instructor.

  5. Safety: Always practice ukemi on a soft surface like a mat to reduce the risk of injury.
